For current sequencing status, search DOE JGI's website.

See a list of all DOE microbes completed and in progress to date. This list includes more than 485 microbial genomes and 30 microbial communities having specialized biological capabilities sequenced by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Most microbes of interest to DOE are sequenced at the DOE Joint Genome Institute (JGI). Through the DOE JGI Community Sequencing Program, researchers anywhere can propose candidates for sequencing that bear on DOE missions in bioenergy, climate change, or bioremediation. Through the DOE-JGI Laboratory Science Program, scientists at DOE Laboratories are given the opportunity to propose candidates for sequencing that bear on DOE Lab missions. At the completion of any sequencing project, all data are made available to the entire community. For more about these programs, see our Sequencing Candidates page.
